The Duoo desk stands out with its thin horizontal lines and angled metal legs, creating a powerful visual image. Free from unnecessary elements, it serves as a functional workspace. The desk features a small shelf above a large work surface, a hidden tray for connecting devices, and a table top made of natural veneer, adding warmth to the design.
Constructed from veneered plate, painted MDF, and metal, the Duoo desk measures 1500 (L) x 750 (D) x 750 (H). The upper shelf allows for stationery placement without disturbing the workspace, while the built-in cable tray maintains a clean aesthetic. The desk also includes a drawer under the desktop for additional storage.
Designed in Cherkasy, Ukraine in 2017, the Duoo desk is part of a larger furniture collection presented at various furniture exhibitions. The desk was finalized in 2018 and an updated version, Duoo 2.0, was exhibited at Maison at Objet in Paris in September 2019.
The design is based on a study of Japanese culture, aiming to create a modern furniture collection that combines functionality and emotionality. Despite the challenges of ensuring stability and parallelism between the top shelf and the desktop, Mohyla managed to create a design that balances dynamism and balance.
The Duoo desk, according to Mohyla, is a desire to express character through minimalism. It maintains an impeccable balance of materials, functionality, and aesthetics, making it a deserving recipient of the Silver A' Furniture Design Award in 2020. This award is given to designs that showcase outstanding expertise, innovation, and artistic skill.
